09.09.2007 PRESS RELEASE: Picture of the Moon release additional song on the web. Dutch progmetal band PICTURE OF THE MOON celebrate their sixth anniversary this month. In September 2001 the band started to form on the grounds of University of Twente, Enschede (The Netherlands). To celebrate this they decided to release an additional entire song on the web from their newest effort, the EP 'Ageless Day'. The song is titled 'Black Roses' and is the opening track from the EP. 'Ageless Day' was recorded and produced by Joost van den Broek (AFTER FOREVER) in November 2006 in the Excess Studios (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and was released by Dark Balance records in June 2007. The track can be heard on their official website, their MySpace page and their Dutch profile on Hyves.

We willen Kudra Mata van harte feliciteren met hun zege vanavond in de voorronde van Oogst van Overijssel in De Stam, Almelo. We vonden het een eer dat wij geselecteerd waren om met deze voorronde mee te mogen doen en wensen Kudra Mata veel succes in de volgende ronde. Bedankt voor de positieve reacties die we uit het publiek ontvingen. We hebben met veel plezier gespeeld.

Press release: Picture of the Moon introduce new lead guitarist

The progressive rock and metal band PICTURE OF THE MOON from the Netherlands introduce their new lead guitarist Alex Rosenhof. Alex already joined Picture of the Moon for their April tour when original lead guitarist Sjoerd Kolk became ill all of a sudden. "It was already planned that Sjoerd would leave the band, because of his intensive study program at the University of Twente but now things went a lot quicker than expected" clarifies Michiel Borkent, Picture of the Moon's singer and keyboardist.

"First we auditioned some guitarists who had lessons from guitar virtuosos. But now we have a guitar virtuoso," Michiel proudly says. "Already when Alex had sent us his demo mp3 I felt this was the new guy we should hire. The audition for me was the very confirmation and the next day we called Alex he could join the band. Alex managed to rehearse the complete set of Picture of the Moon material in just a few weeks, which was quite an accomplishment and just in time to replace Sjoerd during the CD Presentation in Atak (Enschede, April 14 2007)."

Sjoerd comments on his departure from Picture of the Moon: "It's unfortunate how things can work out sometimes, but there was no other option than to leave the band. Especially at this interesting time when the music is really moving on to a higher level. I wish PotM all the best and will always remain a big fan."

With Alex having a German nationality Picture of the Moon can now call themselves with right an international band.

"We hope this line up will last for a long time and we're very curious how our music will evolve from here", the members of Picture of the Moon say.

The release date of their new EP 'Ageless Day' is set for June 1 2007 and will be released with label DARK BALANCE (www.darkbalance.com).

Persbericht: Picture of the Moon introduceert nieuwe leadgitarist

De Nederlandse progrock- en metalband PICTURE OF THE MOON introduceert Alex Rosenhof als hun nieuwe leadgitarist. Alex trad al met Picture of the Moon op tijdens hun tour in april, toen Sjoerd plotseling uitviel vanwege ziekte. "Het was al gepland dat Sjoerd de band zou verlaten, vanwege zijn intensieve studieprogramma op de Universiteit Twente maar nu ging het allemaal wat sneller dan verwacht," verklaart zanger en toetsenist Michiel Borkent.

"We hebben eerst wat gitaristen op auditie gehad die les hadden van gitaarvirtuozen. Maar nu hebben we een gitaarvirtuoos," zegt Michiel trots. "Toen Alex zijn demo mp3 toestuurde voelde ik al dat we deze gast aan moesten nemen. De auditie was slechts een bevestiging van dat gevoel en de volgende dag belden we Alex om te zeggen dat hij toegelaten werd tot de band. Alex heeft het gepresteerd om in enkele weken ons hele repertoire in te studeren. Net op tijd om Sjoerd te vervangen tijdens onze CD-Presentatie in Atak (Enschede, 14 april 2007)."

Sjoerd vertelt over zijn vertrek uit Picture of the Moon: "Het is jammer hoe dingen soms kunnen lopen, maar er zat niets anders op dan de band te verlaten. Vooral nu de muziek echt een hoger niveau aan het bereiken is. Ik wens PotM alle goeds toe en zal altijd een groot fan blijven."

Omdat Alex een Duitse nationaliteit heeft kan Picture of the Moon zich nu met recht een internationale band noemen.

"We hopen dat deze line up een lange tijd stand zal blijven houden en we zijn benieuwd hoe onze muziek zich zal ontwikkelen", zeggen de leden van Picture of the Moon.

De releasedatum van de nieuwe EP 'Ageless Day' is gezet op 1 juni 2007 en zal worden uitgebracht via DARK BALANCE (www.darkbalance.com).

Gisteravond was de CD-Presentatie rondom onze nieuwe EP 'Ageless Day' in Atak Enschede. Voor ons speelden met groot succes de bands Osyris uit Duitsland en Snakes & Sirens. We kregen een hoop positieve opmerkingen over onze nieuwe EP en onze show. We willen iedereen bedanken die aan de EP en deze avond hebben meegewerkt. Met name: de support acts, de Atak crew, Joost van den Broek, Dark Balance, de fotografen, de merchandisers Maarten en Jan, gastheer Gezinus & DJ Erik en uiteraard het publiek dat aanwezig was. Wat ons betreft was het een zeer geslaagd feest!

Yesterday evening the presentation of our new EP 'Ageless Day' took place. Superb supporting acts were Osyris from Germany and Snakes & Sirens. We got a lot of positive comments on our new EP and show. We would like to thank everybody who helped us with the EP and last nights presentation. Most notably: the support acts, the Atak crew, Joost van den Broek, Dark Balance, the photographers, merchants Jan and Maarten, host Gezinus & DJ Erik and last but not least the audience that came over to watch our show. Quite a party that was!

Press release: PICTURE OF THE MOON signs EP deal with DARK BALANCE Its seems the metal world can welcome a new label: DARK BALANCE, based in The Netherlands. The label wants to support upcoming artists/bands if their quality of music is worth noticing. Since the label is all about metal without any particular subgenre, any band with some Metal roots is welcome. First release will be of the Dutch progressive Rock/Metal band PICTURE OF THE MOON. This Release is produced by Joost van den Broek (AFTER FOREVER) and contains three songs. After their appearance up to the semi-finals during the Metalbattle 2006 PICTURE OF THE MOON is getting known in the club scene in The Netherlands. Release date of the EP with the title 'Ageless Day' is set on the 1st of June 2007. On the 14th of April PICTURE OF THE MOON will present their EP in Atak, Enschede (NL). The title track of the EP can be heard on the band's website and MySpace.

A lot happened during the past few months. We found ourselves a good label to release our EP with, worked on the artwork (see the poster!), arranged a CD Release Party with some awesome support acts and more gigs are lining up in our schedule! We'll be working on a new website in the style of our new EP. So keep on checking back regularly!
